Neither Cavan nor Monaghan County Council have a dedicated full-time vacant housing officer.
As part of Housing for All, the Government committed to a range of actions to address vacancy including the requirement that Vacant Homes Officers based in local authorities are all full-time posts.
These officers have a number of jobs, such as investigating why buildings are vacant and approaching owners of vacant properties.

However, in Monaghan, while the post is a full-time position it is carried out by a number of people depending on the requirements in particular areas at a given time.
While in Cavan there is one part-time vacant homes officer.
