Cavan based carer releases memoir

Ali explained her motivation for writing the book was for other people who feel alone in similar situations

A carer based in County Cavan has written a book outlining the complex nature of being a carer.

Ali Isaac cares for her daughter Carys and her memoir gives an insight into the loving relationship she has with her daughter.

She speaks about her experience becoming a full time carer, trying to do her best for her child, while feeling underqualified.

Ali believes that counselling should be offered automatically to parents of a disabled child because it can be overwhelming, with depression and burnout occurring.

She outlined that she herself has felt deeply depressed at times, with being pulled in so many directions and trying hard to do her best for her family.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Ali explained her motivation for writing the book was for other people who feel alone in similar situations.
