A Co. Cavan councillor is calling for an update on the National Children's Hospital.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly described the situation as "an absolute farce of the highest order".
He outlined that the project has yet to be delivered, and there are have been 43 delays to the project.
Cllr O'Reilly brought the matter to the fore at this week's sitting of Cavan County Council.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he said the delays have gone beyond public answer.
He said: "It is ridiculous, it is nonsensical. At this moment in time, I think that it has gone beyond public anger.
"It actually is a source of constant hilarity, but anyone who is involved in construction.
"But it's not hilarity when you have a sick child, or you have children who require specialist services," Cllr. O'Reilly added.
