Cavan communities come together in support of Cuan

The event will take place in the Hotel Kilmore on Sunday, October 26, with doors opening at 7pm and starting at 8pm.

A local duo is encouraging people to support a fundraising initiative in aid of the Cuan Cancer Support Centre in Cavan.

Service users Joey McDonald and Stephanie Lord are taking part in a Strictly Come Dancing event which will be held in the Hotel Kilmore on Sunday night the 26th of October.

Cuan is a small cancer support centre which offers support and information in a friendly and informal setting.

It also offers counselling services and complementary therapies to anyone who has ever had a diagnosis of cancer and their famines.

As a cancer survivor, Stephanie says she knows first-hand the importance of Cuan, especially when it comes to offering a safe space and much needed support:

Joey McDonald also availed of Cuan services when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer seven years ago.

He said the local service is somewhere else to go for people like himself instead of having to lean on the same friends and family members all the time.

He told Northern Sound why it's important for locals to get behind and support this important fundraising event:
