Cavan County Councillor John Paul Feeley said that forestry is playing a major part in the impact it is having on electricity restoration times in West Cavan and will continue to do so in the coming days. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Feeley said' "I'm involved in our local group water scheme and we decided to install a generator in advance of this storm. Had we not done so, the area including Blacklion village would be without water at the moment. The same forest from which trees fell last January cutting off the electricity supply to our treatment plant has done so again. After this storm we really need to look at what the forestry services, Coillte and others are doing to ensure that supply of electricity is unnecessarily cut off."
