Cavan County Council won a national award over the weekend at the 2026 LAMA All Ireland Community & Council Awards.
The local authority picked up the award for 'Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project' for the Storm Éowyn Community Response Hubs.
The award is recognition of the fantastic collaborative effort and Meitheal spirit displayed by communities, business and the public sector in a time of crisis.
Over 500 projects around the country were nominated.
Cavan County Council was recognised for rolling out community hubs at speed in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn, particularly in West Cavan.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr John Paul Feeley said these facilities were put in place at very short notice.
Cllr Feeley explained: "These facilities allowed people to access the basics until power and other services were restored in their areas as a result of what was a very serious event.
"To be recognised by other local authorities as leading the way is a great credit to staff in the council and I think we can be very proud of that initiative and very proud of that work."
