The Cavan ESB area has been deemed as one of the worst places for power cuts in the country.
Data provided by the Daily Mail on Sunday, which was obtained through Freedom of Information requests, revealed the area had one of the highest risk of power cuts last year. The Cavan ESB region includes most of Monaghan, where 1,637 outages were counted for the year of 2024. During these outages, 87,962 customers were affected, out of which just under 67,700 were provided by the ESB.
Further analysis of the data revealed an average of 50,000 homes and businesses across the country lost power per week, with just under three million blackouts counted.
