A local TD has welcomed news that Cavan Institute has been invited to engage with SOLAS for an expansion.
The expansion would be co-ordinated by the Grangegorman Development Agency, which is going to be the national delivery agency for further and education training.
Local TD, Brendan Smith, spoke to the Minister for Higher Education and Research, James Lawless about Cavan Institute recently.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith welcomed the news.
He believes that the college is “extremely important” and is economically beneficial to Cavan Town, and the great Cavan-Monaghan area.
Deputy Smith said: "Some months ago, the Minister visited Cavan, met with students, staff, and members of the board of management.
"He saw first hand the pressure on space in Cavan Institute, and he referred to that in the committee meeting as well.
"He is anxious that this project is progressed as quickly as possible," Deputy Smith added.
