People from across the Northern Sound region have been speaking about their experience in the Middle East last weekend.
Violence broke out in the region over the weekend, with operations continuing in Iran this morning.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that 20 thousand Irish people living or transitioning in the region at present.
Co. Cavan man Paul Wilson is a teacher working in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Paul described what it was like when he heard missiles being intercepted.
Paul said: "It would have been around 12 o clock midday. I was actually at the beech, taking a nap in the sun, when all of a sudden I heard a big muffled boom.
"I looked up and couldn't tell where it was coming from or what it was. In quick succession I heard another two muffled booms.
"At the time I wasn't sure what it was, but it was three missiles that had been intercepted up in the sky above me," Paul added.
