The Co. Cavan man appointed as the editor of the Irish Farmers’ Journal said he is “privileged and excited” about taking on the new role.
A native of Ballyconnell in Co Cavan, Adam Woods has been an ever-present member of the Farmers Journal senior editorial leadership team for the past decade, and has served as Deputy Editor of the publication for the past two years.
He first joined the Irish Farmers 2016 as Beef Editor, where he was responsible for shaping the technical and news coverage of both the Irish beef industry and the international beef sector.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Mr. Woods outlined that there is major challenges in Irish agriculture, but he intends to make opportunities from the challenges.
Mr. Woods said that from a young age he has been reading the Irish Farmers Journal.
He said: "From a young age, I would have read the Journal like many do on Irish family farms.
"Matt Dempsey, John Shirley, would have been heroes of mine. I never thought that I would be at this position, its privileged.
"Its a huge job, and a huge responsibility but I'm really excited about it and I'm really looking forward to it," Mr. Woods added.
