Cavan men spend least on flowers for Valentine’s Day

The peak day for spending in florists by men last year was the 13th February.

Romance is alive in Kerry, Limerick and Sligo, according to new spending analysis.

It reveals AIB customers spent over €143 million on Valentine's Day last year - an increase of 45% on the previous year.

Over half a million euro was spent on flowers alone on February 13th - with  €62 the average spent on a bunch of flowers.

Men in Kerry, Limerick and Sligo exceeded that- while those in Westmeath, Donegal and Cavan ranked bottom of the list.

Kerry saw the single highest spend on flowers during the romantic period at €72, followed by Limerick at an average of €68 and Sligo at €67.

In Co Cavan the average spend was €57.
