Gardai in Cavan and Monaghan are encouraging locals to be "mindful" when out and about this Christmas time.
Locals are advised to remain "vigilant" particularly when out shopping. Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Lisa Stevens of Cavan Garda Station said that when out and about, remember to be '"mindful of your surroundings" if withdrawing cash from an ATM. Garda Stevens also advised locals to not carry large amounts of cash on you.
Garda Stevens added that it is important to keep your handbag close, ensure that it's closed at all times and to always be aware of who is close by:
