Cavan-Monaghan TD Matt Carthy believes the Taoiseach is wrong to rule out a border poll in the next 10 years. Speaking at an Easter Rising Commemoration in Portlaw, County Waterford Deputy Carthy said Irish Unity would deliver a better, fairer, and stronger country.
The latest opinion polls suggest that support for a united Ireland is growing in Northern Ireland, however a majority would still vote to remain a part of the UK.
The local Sinn Féin TD says that this is a time of hope, of optimism, of opportunity and of possibility, and criticised the Taoiseach for ruling out a border poll in the next 10 years. Deputy Carthy believes a referendum on Irish unity is inevitable, and it will be successful.
