A local councillor has described the levels of vandalism and anti-social behaviour at a Cavan playground as absolutely deplorable.
Cavan County Council say due to repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour, the playground at Con Smith Park in Cavan will be closed during night-time hours.
The closure will be in effect between 5pm - 8am.
The council says the measure is being taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of members of the community. They say the closure will help protect the facility from further incidents.
The playground will remain open for families and children to enjoy between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
Cavan County Council says they appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation as they work to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.
Cllr Damien Brady says the council were left with no choice but to close the playground.
