A motorist was arrested after Gardaí caught them speeding in Co. Cavan.
The Cavan Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling at 153km per hour at a 100km per hour zone in Butlersbridge along the N3 on Friday.
The L driver failed a roadside drug test and was found to be under the influence of up to seven times the legal alcohol limit for driving.
The individual was charged to court for their actions.
The Gardaí's response comes as part of the unit's special roads enforcement campaign over the Bank Holiday weekend which lasts until Tuesday.
Gardaí are reminding the public to never drink and drive.
