Cavan Senator once again raises concerns over hospital

Pauline Tully raised that case of an 18-year-old woman living in Cavan

A Cavan Senator has once again raised concerns about Cavan General Hospital.

Pauline Tully raised that case of an 18-year-old woman living in Cavan.

She noted that the woman was admitted to Cavan General Hospital in September 2025, when she 17, for symptoms of vomiting, constant headaches and light sensitivity.

She spent four weeks in hospital at this point but received no reason for her symptoms and was sent home with antibiotics.

She ended up back in hospital in the November, for nine weeks, with no solutions offered.

In May she was readmitted for a week and was released on a Friday only to be readmitted the following Thursday for another four weeks.

Senator Tully noted that of the last nine months the woman has spent 18 weeks in hospital, and added that her notes to her GP were inaccurate .

Speaking in the Seanad, Senator Tully noted the discrepancies in the records of the patient.
