A Co Cavan senior member of An Garda Síochána has called on motorists to reduce their speed.
Cavan Superintendent, Gavin O'Reilly says he's concerned by the rise in motorists who are travelling too fast.
He says we all have a part to play in making our roads safer.
Supt O'Reilly says if all drivers reduced their speed by a further 5kms per hour, this would make a huge difference.
Drivers are being asked to always drive within the speed limit, watch out for vulnerable road users, wear a seatbelt, never use a mobile phone when behind the wheel and never drive under the influence of drink and drugs.
