A charity who helps women affected by prostitution and sex trafficking has welcomed the sentence handed out to a Brazilian man who ran brothels locally.
Yesterday Ilamar Rodrigues Ribeiro with an address in Goias, Brazil was jailed for running brothels around the country including in Ballyconnell in Co Cavan. He also pleaded guilty to money laundering and possessing child abuse material. The court heard the accused had rented out properties under false pretenses and then used them as brothels. Barbara Condron is the CEO of the charity Ruhama who supported the two victims involved in this case
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, she paid tribute to the Gardaí and hopes this conviction will encourage more women to come forward
