There has been 40 drainage notices issued on roads across the Ballybay - Clones MD since the beginning of January.
That's according to figures released by Monaghan County Council this week.
There is currently one crew carrying out drainage works on regional local roads, opening outlets and cleaning drainage networks.
Two patching crews are carrying out maintenance works within the MD.
The council said, that due to the rainfall, there is a "significant volume" of defects to be attended.
Speaking to Northern Sound, local councillor, Seán Gilliland said that local roads have been "seriously damaged" by rainfall.
Cllr. Gilliland said: "Our roads got heavily impacted from the last two storms, in 2025 and 2026. The inclement weather with huge volumes of rain has caused serious damage to our roads network.
"While we are lobbying to get extra money, and we are promised we will get extra money- we have introduced new systems of repairing the roads, and new products.
"In relation to drainage- no more than when Storm Éowyn, and the timber took down the lines. The water has damaged the roads. The council has a plan of action in place to deal with drainage on roads," he added.
