Monaghan County Council have confirmed following a presentation today on the public consultation and survey for the proposed National Bikers Memorial in Clones, elected members have decided not to proceed with Páirc Phobail Séamus Mac Cába as a location.
The local authority said there is strong support locally for a memorial, and Monaghan County Council will continue working with the Gone but Not Forgotten Committee to find a suitable alternative site in Clones.
On a social media post this evening, The Gone But Not Forgotten Bikers Memorial committee said they received the huge disappointment of the Municipal district discussion on the latest Hogarth report.

They said for the local Councillors to vote against Páirc Phobail Seamus MacCába site after all their previous votes in favour is truly shocking.
They thanked to all those who have actively supported the project from its inception and said they will issued a more detailed statement in the days to come.
