While confirmation that the Ulster final will be held in Clones once again this year has been widely welcomed, some concerns have been raised over the decision to hold it on a Saturday evening as opposed to the usual time of a Sunday afternoon.
In previous years, Monaghan County Council and other voluntary groups put on events for children in the Barry McGuigan Park which became a popular attraction with families coming early to avoid traffic.
According to Cllr Pat Treanor, this encouraged visitors to stay in the Clones area throughout the day which also had a positive impact on local businesses.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Treanor welcomed the news following speculation that the Ulster Final would be moved to Dublin.
Over the years, Cllr Treanor has argued that it's up to the community of Clones and surrounding areas to compete against others stadiums in Ulster, he says it's important to "do our best" and "put on a show as good as possible" which will make the venue very attractive for supporters. He added that there is also a "big question" when it comes to investment in St Tiernach's Park.
