A Co Cavan campaigner has described the Government's lack of interaction towards protesters as "despicable."
Saoirse Ní Bhaoigheallain is a member of the Community Action Tenants Union (CATU) and has travelled to join protesters on O'Connell street today.
Saoirse says action must be taken and a cap on fuel prices is needed as regular people cannot afford current prices.
CATU has organised a protest calling to cap fuel prices outside Cavan Court House on Friday the 17th of April at 5pm.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Co Cavan woman says she doesn't expect there to be much real relief provided by Government from now until the protest scheduled for Cavan Town.
"I don’t expect there to be much relief, if Government wanted to bring about relief they would negotiate with the protesters involved and because Government chose not to I think these talks are just for show."
Saoirse also feels that unions need to be more involved, particularly for those working in transport.
She did not rule out strike action and believes measures of this extreme are needed to garner the Government's attention in order to bring about much-needed relief and resolution.
