Local park named second most visited in the country

A Monaghan Park has been named as the second most visited Coillte recreational forest in the country.

Coillte has revealed the Top 20 most frequented recreational sites last year.

Rossmore Forest Park attracted the second highest number of visitors on the list, with 343,074 recorded in 2024.

In first place with 344,765 visitors was Avondale Forest Park in Co. Wicklow.

Rossmore Forest Park boasts a variety of walking trails around Rossmore Castle as well as surrounding lakes.

Nationally, over three million people visited Coillte's top 50 most popular recreational woodlands and parks in 2024.

Coillte said that the data indicates a growing interest from the public in local outdoor recreation.
