A primary school in Co Monaghan is holding an initiative today aimed at improving its pupils' awareness surrounding farm safety.
The day-long event at St Daigh’s National School in Inniskeen comes as one of the busiest times on farms gets under way.
Its message to pupils is: 'The farmyard is not a schoolyard'.
A number of different agencies including paramedics, community gardaí, local farmers and representatives from farm safety educational platform, AgriKids, along with Co Monaghan fire service are involved.
School teacher Niamh Monahan says the initiative is about a collective approach in raising awareness about farm safety for children.
She says she would love to see the idea rolled out to schools across the country.
These students highlighted to us what they have learned at today's awareness event.
