A local councillor has been reacting to the collapse of a bridge in West Cavan.
Mullaghboy Bridge on the L-1012-0 at Gowlan, was significantly damaged following the recent extreme rainfall.
Cavan County Council is currently assessing the damage and has said that bridge repair is being given priority.
West Cavan councillor and Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, John Paul Feeley said there was substantial rainfall on Sunday evening which caused serious damage to many roads locally.

Among the damage was the partial collapse of the Mullaghboy Bridge on the road from Gowlan to Glangevlin.
Councillor Feeley described the road closure as a major inconvenience for locals who now have to undertake a long diversion, some up to 6 or 7kms.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor John Paul Feeley noted the affected locals and what this closure means for them.
