A new columbarium chapel is planned at the Cathedral of St Patrick and Felim in Cavan.
The chapel, to be integrated within the Mortuary Chapel aims to have around 800 individually designed niches for prayer and reflection.
Fr Kevin Fay said a planning application has been submitted to Cavan County Council, with hopes the chapel will be installed by the end of summer.

Eternum Columbarium, which is managing the project, highlighted the growing demand for columbaria across Ireland.
Its hoped the addition will serve parishioners and the wider community, ensuring it remains a lasting place of worship and remembrance.
