A local councillor has raised his concerns in relation to increased anti-social behaviour in Monaghan Town.
Cllr Alan Johnston says instances of public drinking and nuisance in the Diamond is leaving a negative impression on visitors.
As a result, he has called for a new Community Safety Partnerships structure to be established sooner rather than later in a bid to tackle such issues head-on.
This would provide a forum were community groups, volunteers, local councillors and Gardaí can meet to discuss the issues impacting people's lives on a daily basis.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Johnston said it's a very small number of individuals who are carrying out these anti-social activities.
He believes everyone should feel safe to walk the streets of Monaghan town without feeling intimidated.
Cllr Johnston is calling for more Garda visibility in the town in order to deter such actions.
