A Co Monaghan councillor has raised his concerns about derelict properties in Ballinode, including the thatch cottage at the top of the village.
Cllr Pauric Clerkin shared his thoughts at the most recent sitting of the Monaghan Municipal District.
The Fine Gael representative confirmed that a survey will now be carried out to identify any vacant and derelict properties.
This will be followed by engagement with owners to bring these buildings back to use.
Since the MD meeting, Cllr Clerkin said progress has been made in relation the sale of the thatched cottage and he is hopeful that a deal will be struck.
