Cllr Seamus Treanor has been elected the Cathaoirleach of the Monaghan Municpal District.
While this will mark his third time holding this post, Cllr Treanor said he is "extremely grateful" for this opportunity once again.
He described his recent election to the role of Cathaoirleach as a "proud moment" for both himself and his family.
Cllr Treanor outlined that many positive things are taking place across the local area, however he also shared his concerns when it comes to housing.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, the independent representative said rents are going "through the roof" and it's "not sustainable."
