A local councillor raised the issue of council tenants in Part V housing being unable to buy their homes at the recent full meeting of Cavan County Council.
Fianna Fáil councillor, Clifford Kelly describes the rule as unfair and discriminatory.
He explained that while tenants in council built homes can buy out after a number of years, Part V tenants cannot.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor Kelly says people are paying high rents for years without the option of ownership.
