The country will be under a yellow wind warning from 1 o'clock this afternoon and it will remain in place until 2am tomorrow.
Met Éireann is forecasting very strong southerly winds, veering westerly by this evening with severe gusts and coastal gales.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow weather says Storm Dave will peak late this evening.
