The Department of Agriculture has announced the lifting of a compulsory housing order for poultry and captive birds.
The order was introduced in November of last year, to protect poultry during the higher risk period for bird flu.
According to the Department, it will be lifted next Tuesday, the 5th of May.
Biosecurity regulations introduced that same months will remain in place.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the IFA’s poultry chair, Brendan Soden welcomed the news.
The Co. Cavan farmer explained the current situation for poultry flocks.
Mr. Soden said: "There was a stakeholders meeting, and it was felt that the number of cases had reduced.
"This is a chance to lift it. Just to stress, for poultry owners and producers; biosecurity measures are still in place.
"People should be on their guard, to make sure they're still washing their feet, not taking in unnecessary visitors, just to be on their guard," Mr. Soden added.
