Co. Cavan is the cheapest place in the Republic of Ireland to rent a double room in a house.
According to figures released by Daft.ie for the final quarter of 2025.
In Cavan, the average monthly rent for a double room is €494, lower than the national average of €775.
Meanwhile, in Co. Monaghan the price to rent a double room was, on average, €570.
The average monthly rent of a two-bedroom apartment, nationwide, in the final quarter of 2025 was €2,086.
In Co. Cavan the average cost of a two-bedroom apartment was €1,265. In Monaghan, the average price for a two-bedroom apartment is just over €1,000 (€1,026).
The Daft report indicated, that with fewer than 160 homes to rent in Connacht-Ulster, supply is tight with availability down one quarter year-on-year
It showed that across the region, availability is now just one quarter (25%) of its 2015-2019 average, when an average of 630 homes were typically available for rent.
On average, the price of a one-bedroom apartment in Co. Cavan was €1,025, an increase of 11.1%, and Monaghan's increase was €906- up by 8.4%.
Average prices also increased across the Northern Sound region for house prices.
A two-bedroom house in Cavan saw increases of 5.1% (€1,161), while Monaghan increased by 7.2% (€1,143).
Three-bedroom houses saw similar increases. In Cavan, it was 5.3% (€1,467), and in Monaghan it was 4.4% (€1,315).
Finally, four-bedroom houses increased by 5.6% (€1,465) in Co. Cavan and 11.6% (€1,519) in Co. Monaghan.
There were no five-bedroom houses or studio available to rent in either county.
