Cllr Sinead Flynn is calling for local first responders to be aware that the location of the defibrillator cabinet in Ballybay has changed.
According to Cllr Flynn, the defibrillator cabinet at the Old Library in Ballybay was accidently damaged.
For this reason, the defibrillator was moved today to Smyth's Newsagent, Ballybay until further notice and will be available to the public during normal opening hours.
A replacement coded cabinet will be installed as quickly as possible, however it may take a number of weeks for the HSE to have the new access code fully set up.
Cllr Flynn said she has been advised that the new cabinet will operate using a keypad code, which will be provided by emergency services when contacted.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Flynn said in an emergency, this life-saving equipment must be easily accessible.
She added that she will work with Monaghan County Council and the HSE to ensure there is a fast and straightforward way to access it.
