A local councillor has praised the delivery of a new playpark at Lui na Grene housing estate in Scotstown.
Work on a small play area in Lui na Greine housing estate in Scotstown is almost complete.
Funding of €18,887 was provided for this project by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality in 2025.
In total, the amenity will cost €37,000 with Monaghan Municipal District funding the balance.
While Cllr Pauric Clerkin welcomed the development, he said residents have raised their concerns over privacy and strange cars pulling up at the estate.
Cllr Clerkin said he will seek clarity over whether the playpark is public or private.
The local representative said he was previously informed in the past that it was a public playpark for everyone in the community, something which he praised, however an increase in traffic in the area has led to an increase in litter at the playpark.
As a result Cllr Clerkin is hoping to have developments on the instalment of new bins in the area in a bid to resolve the issue:
