A developer who is building over 100 homes in Co. Cavan is calling for large scale sites to accelerate housing delivery.
Ciaran Fitzpatrick is the CEO of Fitzpatrick & Heavey Group.
His company are currently in the process of developing 145 homes in Drumlark, Co. Cavan, with an additional land-bank for 1200 homes.
The company last year assembled €200 million to acquire strategic land, and is now positioning itself to move quickly on large-scale opportunities as they arise.
The move reflects a growing consensus within the sector that Ireland's current model of housing delivery, largely focused on smaller, incremental developments is not capable of meeting demand at the pace or volume required.
Fitzpatrick is now targeting large, strategically located land-banks in every county that can accommodate high-density, master planned communities.
