Both Cavan and Monaghan County Council’s have received less funding for lane improvements this year, than they did in 2025.
That’s according to figures released by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary last week.
Responding to a parliamentary question from local TD, Matt Carthy, the Minister revealed that under the Local Improvement Scheme, Cavan County Council received an allocation of €527,400.
Meanwhile Monaghan County Council has been allocated €385,880.
In 2025, Cavan had received almost €1.2 million in funding, while Monaghan had been allocated just over €960 thousand.
Since 2017, Cavan County Council has received just over €8 million under the LIS, while Monaghan County Council was allocated €6.9 million.
