A local farmer has reminded people of the dangers and negative repercussions of dogs worrying sheep.
According to Niamh Monahan from Inniskeen in Co Monaghan, dog owners are responsible for the whereabouts of their dog both night and day.
If your dog is observed worrying sheep a farmer can take action in order to keep their sheep safe.

Niamh highlighted that ewes are now heavy in lamb and she says a loose dog can cause huge stress to sheep and lead them to abort.
The Monaghan farmer along with her dad suffered a horrific dog attack on their flock of sheep last year.
She says caution is needed at this of the year when it comes to be out and about with your dog.
