The Draft Biodiversity Action Plan for 2026 - 2030 was presented to Councillors at yesterday's Monaghan County Council meeting.
Dr Patricia Mc Creesh, Biodiversity Officer for Monaghan County Council made the presentation.
The full council meeting heard the draft plan yesterday.
Within it, the threats to biodiversity in Monaghan were outlined.
It included climate change, invasive species, habitat loss, pollution and overexploitation.
Some of the designated sites and locally important biodiversity areas were explained.
It also included the importance of engaging young people and recognising their voices in the conversation of Monaghan Biodiversity.
Some case studies were outlined, including Dexters on Sliabh Beagh, Elliots Land Rewilding and Monaghan's Annual Biodiversity Conferences.
Some of the themes, objectives and actions outlined were biodiversity audit, conservation, restoration and resilience, leading by example and connecting to nature.
The plan received full support from councillors.
