A local councillor has welcomed the long awaited opening of Drumary Bridge in the Newbliss area.
Cllr Richard Truell previously raised his concerns over the bridge branding it as an "absolute disgrace" that it was closed for eight months.
The bridge is situated on a "busy road" which leads to the popular Tyrone Guthrie Centre and is used heavily by local residents and farmers.
Cllr Truell said it was "unfortunate" that it took eight months for works to be completed.
While welcoming the opening of the bridge, Cllr Truell also apologised to the local community for the inconvenience caused and thanked locals for their patience.
He said moving forward he hopes that we can learn from this and the mistakes made.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Truell thanked engineering staff and the construction company for the work carried out on the bridge adding that it is a "fine piece of construction" which will last for years to come.
