€2.2 million in funding has been allocated to schools across the Northern Sound region, under the Small Grant Schemes.
That's according to local Fianna Fáil TD, Brendan Smith.
The Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton, announced funding of €65 million in minor works and ICT grant funding for schools nationally.
Minister Naughton said that the funding provides clarity and certainty for the school system and will now be incorporated into the annual grant payments calendar for schools.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith explained that €1.1 million has been allocated to Monaghan, with the other €1.1 million going to schools in Co. Cavan.
The local TD welcomed the news.
Deputy Smith said: “I welcome the allocation of €1.1 Million for Cavan and Monaghan under the Minor Works Scheme which enables schools to carry out small scale maintenance and improvement works.
"€1.1 Million is also being allocated to schools in Cavan and Monaghan under the ICT Grant Fund. This funding is to support the Digital Strategy for Schools," Deputy Smith added.
