Over 38 thousand euro has been earmarked for literacy projects across the Northern Sound region.
It follows an announcement from Ministers James Lawless and Marian Harkin yesterday afternoon.
The funding comes as part of the overarching 1 million euro national Adult Literacy for Life Collaboration and Innovation Fund for this year.
38,149 euro has been allocated to Cavan and Monaghan as part of this fund, to address unmet literacy needs across the region.
It will go towards four local community projects spanning literacy, family literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, and financial literacy.
Among the four projects benefiting from the funding are the Creative Connections collaborative project, which helps grandparents to build literacy and digital skills.
The Financial Literacy for Bailieborough Men's Shed initiative will also be availing of the funding, as well as a project between Cavan and Monaghan County Local Development which involves the development of a training resource and AI avatar to combat misinformation and disinformation regarding International Protection Applicants & Refugees.
