Over €650,000 in funding has been announced to support investment in recreational facilities including walking trails in Cavan and Monaghan.
The funding, announced today by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary, is part of a national package worth €16.5 million for 63 outdoor recreation projects across the country.
Projects in County Cavan to benefit from today's funding include €500,000 for Kingscourt Railway Hub and €151,387 for Recreational Enhancements at Castleshane Forest in County Monaghan.

Minister Niamh Smyth said today's announcement represents a real investment in our communities, adding that these projects will benefit local life and provide vital recreational and social spaces.
She said this is a great opportunity to remind everyone of the wonderful outdoor amenities we have here in Cavan/Monaghan and we should make the most of them and continue to cherish them.
