A Co Monaghan man has spoken out about a recent experience he had with his elderly father at Cavan General Hospital.
After waiting for an ambulance for over two hours, Adrian Corrigan said he was left with no other option but to take his father directly to hospital.
According to Adrian, no trollies were available for his 89-year-old and he spent two days on a plastic chair until it was discovered that he had a broken femur.
As a result of this experience, Adrian says his father's health has deteriorated drastically due to the trauma of it all.
The Emyvale man says this experience is no fault of the great staff at Cavan Hospital, instead, it is a direct result of Government failure.
He says the system is completely broken and something urgently must be done to address the situation.
Mr Corrigan told Northern Sound: "Our whole healthcare system is completely and utterly flawed. It's not the fault of staff, it's due to our do-nothing Government."
