Essential works to be carried out at Ballyoisin water plant

Cllr McAree praised Monaghan County Council for "stepping in" to carry out the essential works.

Local councillor Bronagh McAree has welcomed confirmation that Monaghan County Council will replace two pumps and carry out essential works at a water plant in Ballyoisin.

According to Cllr Bronagh McAree, this is an issue that has caused major stress to residents for many years.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr McAree says Uisce Eireann has "failed" the two estates of Oisinvale and OisinBrian for 15 years or more.

Back in September, Cllr McAree was informed by the management committee that the second pump had failed, which holds the potential of raw sewage entering rivers.

Despite this, she has credited Monaghan County Council for "stepping in" even though the responsibility lies with Uisce Eireann.
