Fewer drink and drug driving checkpoints are being carried out across the Northern Sound region.
That's according to figures released to MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, who revealed a 20 per cent decrease in checkpoints across the Louth-Cavan-Monaghan Garda division.
According to the data, 470 drink and drug driving checkpoints took place locally in the third quarter of 2025.
Nationally, checkpoints decreased by 7.5 per cent last year.
EU Transport Committee MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú is calling on Garda management to justify the reduction in roadside testing nationwide:
