The Fianna Fáil parliamentary party will select its Presidential nominee today.
Members are meeting at Leinster House this morning to decide between former Dublin football manager Jim Gavin and MEP Billy Kelleher.
Jim Gavin is the favourite, with more than 30 members backing him.
Elsewhere, Sinn Féin’s Finance spokesperson has not ruled himself out as the party’s Presidential candidate.
Pearse Doherty's name has been mentioned as a possible nominee along with the north's First Minister Michelle O’Neill.
Party leader Mary Lou McDonald said yesterday that she will not be the party’s candidate.
Deputy Pearse Doherty says the party has yet to decide if they will run a candidate.
