The funeral of former Fine Gael and Independent councillor Hughie McElvaney will take place this morning.
The former Monaghan councillor died peacefully on Wednesday at Cavan General Hospital.
The Corcaghan man was a local representative in Monaghan for 50 years, before retiring from the role last year prior to the local elections.
Removal will take place this morning at 10.30am, arriving at St Michael's Church, Corcaghan for Funeral Mass at 11am.
Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Corcaghan man Frank Evans says Hughie's life was very successful in so many ways and he will be greatly missed by so many.
