Funding for refurbishment works to fire stations in the Northern Sound region has been welcomed locally.
Today, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne announced €328.5 million Fire Services Capital Programme 2026-2030.
Within this funding, €1 million allocated for refurbishment works at Kingscourt Fire Station in Co. Cavan, and €850,000 has been allocated for works at Carrickmacross Fire Station in Co. Monaghan.
Minister Browne has also issued approval for Cavan Fire Services to purchase two new Fire Appliances and Monaghan Fire Services to purchase one new appliance.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Local Minister Niamh Smyth welcomed the announcement.
Senator Robbie Gallagher also welcomed the funding.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he noted the importance of the work the fire service and that it cannot be underestimated.
