€347,000 in grant aid has been allocated for heritage projects in Cavan and Monaghan.
The funding was granted by Minister of State Christopher O'Sullivan today.
45 projects across the Cavan and Monaghan will receive funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.
Cavan has been allocated just over €180,000 (€184,943), while Monaghan has received €161,952.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister of State Niamh Smyth welcomed the news.
Deputy Smyth said: "I always am so impressed by how local groups go out of their way to work with the local authority to apply for these funds. None of these funds come easy, there is a lot of checks and balances to be done, but it does make a significant difference.
"You're going to see churches with their windows improved, thatched cottages, and those kind of skilled and technical work that has to be done," she added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Brendan Smith explained how important heritage is:
"Its extremely important that we preserve and nurture our heritage, and make it a living heritage as much as possible," Deputy Smith said.
"We know that those buildings by-and-large are preserved buildings that have a particular status, they are hard to maintain. When repairs are needed, you have to do it to a certain standard, because of their architectural listing," she added.
